For the first time ever NECTA is looking to the public to find a budding amateur chef from the North East and give them the chance of a lifetime to compete in a major culinary competition in front of an audience. The winner will be given the opportunity to gain work experience with Chairman of Judges and award winning chef Douglas Jordan.

This competition will be open to any one over the age of 18 who is not working as, has never worked as or has never trained as a professional cook or chef.

Entrants will be vetted in a similar manner to the North East Chef of the Year competition and will be invited to submit a proposed 2 course menu for 2 persons with recipes, method and costing.

8 finalists will be chosen to compete live on the second day and will be allowed to cook in the same competition kitchens used by the professional chefs. They will compete in front of a live audience and will be judged by the professional guest chef judges.

Competitors will be expected to prepare, cook and serve their menus to the judges within 1½ hours.
